Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek star as tormented heads of household in this haunting period drama, based on the only documented case in U.S. history in which a spirit caused a man’s death. Enduring the supernatural acts of a cruel ghost known as “Old Kate,” John and Lucy Bell (Sutherland and Spacek) do their best to protect their daughter (played by British actress Rachel Hurd-Wood, who’s a dead ringer for an adolescent Spacek).
